Water activities are fantastic for sensory fun. Just add some marbles and tools to it to make a quick and simple activity that is sure to keep preschoolers busy at home!
And let’s face it, what kid doesn’t love to play in water.
Whether its outside in the summer doing pool activities or anytime inside, kids are definitely going to dive right into it.
Yes, water activities may get messy inside but the trick is to be prepared for it. Lay down a towel, or shower curtain, or both to help keep some of the water contained.
Water and Marbles Sensory Activity for Preschooler
This marble activity is so easy and simple!
Gather your supplies.
Then pour water into a bin and you’re ready!
To create your own fun Marbles and Water sensory bin, you will need:
- a bin to hold water
- a small container of marbles (Amazon has some fun ones!)
- an empty soda pop bottle
- a spoon
My I first idea when I set up this activity was to use the spoon to scoop out the marbles from the water and transfer them to the bottle.
A little fine motor and sensory play using a supply preschoolers doesn’t often have access to in activities — marbles!
However, as my girls started playing, they came up with multiple games to play with the water and marbles.
Dumping, pouring, scooping, spinning, rolling, you name it, they did it!
Water in, water out…marbles in, marbles out!
Yes, this marble activity did get messy as expected with preschoolers.
Especially, when the girls decided to pour the bottle full of water and marbles into the small container outside the bin.
Yep, water everywhere!
However, we had a laugh and then went running for more towels.
A little bit of water, isn’t going to hurt anyone.
My girls were drenched by the time they finished this activity.
Not exactly how I envisioned it to go but that’s okay.
Once again, kids love water play!
In my eyes, what mattered, was that the girls had fun!
Preschoolers learn through play, exploring, and experiencing with activities just like this marble and water one!
Who knew that just a few simple supplies could provide so much entertainment for my kids!
