Keep Kids Busy Painting To Get Supper on the Table

While I was getting supper on the table, I got him a piece of 12×12 scrapbook paper in the color of his choice: Green.

Next, I poured some washable paint (affiliate link to my favorite paint for kids) in a container (to help contain the mess). And gave him his green “paintbrush”.

A couple of months ago, Henry and I bought this basting brush together, I told him it would be for him to paint with. He has been so excited to use it, and talked about it for a long time. I completely forgot about it until this day. His excitement returned to paint with it and the trucks!

I set out a couple of trucks and vehicles for Henry to drive through the paint.

… I only set out a couple of trucks… notice the amount Henry added himself.

The poor backhoe truck had more than a day’s work.

Henry (or Big Grandpa, according to Henry) was digging trenches in the paint.

Painting with Trucks Can Get Messy: Prepare!

Things got a little messy (notice where the paper ends), so I suggest any time you paint with trucks or anything that has wheels, do it on an easily wipeable surface, or laying out newspapers or even a sheet under your painting area.

I kind of like the art that was made ON the vehicles. I thought it looks pretty neat the way it marbled together.

It was entertaining for Henry, a little messy in the process (but nothing that couldn’t be wiped up), and I got supper on the table.

Henry created a piece of art. I think it will go in the frame. And we’ll call it Painting With Trucks.

This piece of art was also made on the play table. That truck art won’t stick around for long, unfortunately.

Thank you Crayola for washable paints (affiliate link) for being easily washable.

All the vehicles ended up in the bath tonight as an added bonus activity after painting with trucks.

You can also take this painting with trucks up a notch… use the big sandbox toys and take it outside to paint the sidewalk. The kids LOVE it.
