These fun paper Valentine’s crafts are perfect for young and older kids!

Sometimes, kids are just drawn to certain crafts (especially paper crafts!).

Just ask them. Kids are refreshingly honest with everyone.

They haven’t learned the difference between being honest and being polite yet; so they’ll tell you if they dislike your haircut or think that outfit looks odd.

We could all learn a little bit from their honesty, I suppose.

But, that honesty comes in quite handy when they come across an activity, art, or fun craft that they really enjoyed doing.

It comes in especially handy when they’re drawn to certain paper Valentine’s crafts that they request year after year.

What your kids think are cute might not be what you had in mind, but go with them on it because Valentine’s Day, after all, is all about the heart.

Share in their fun, silliness, and sweet hearts with these easy valentine’s day paper crafts that the kids think are cute.

They don’t really have to any special skill level, as these are all pretty easy and so much fun for young and older kids!

The Kids’ Paper Valentine Hearts

One of the first Valentine projects I did with both Henry and George was my Valentine’s Day Art: The Kids’ Hearts.

This paper Valentine craft was a set of Valentine hearts made from scrapbook paper, painted, and glued together then framed on top of another piece of scrapbook paper or cardstock.

Such a simple craft, but what made it so fun for the boys was that Henry got to cut paper. His choice? Green construction paper! Remember, these heart card crafts are about what the kids think are cute, not what you think is appropriate. So, we made a green Valentine’s heart – it’s a perfect way to really let them make an easy craft this time of year!

Cutting is huge when you’re a three year old. He would have cut all day if I’d let him (honestly, such a fun way to practice fine motor skills!). The only thing better than cutting is painting, and this craft included that, too. We tried finger painting at first, which was too messy. Then I came up with something new that the kids thought was even better…baggy painting. It kept all the mess inside a ziplock bag but allowed the boys to enjoy painting.

Overall, the craft turned out lovely, and these heart shape crafts are one of my favorite Valentine’s memories to this day.

Cute Paper Valentine’s Crafts

Through the years, I’ve found a lot of paper Valentine’s crafts for my kids (and your kids) to do. Check out my list of 21 of the Best Valentine Crafts for Preschoolers. It’s filled with cute ideas like my watercolor hearts made from newsprint.

These are gorgeous taped to the window! They give almost a stained glass look, and it’s a wonderful way to upcycle old newspaper or phone book pages.

The printed text gives a nice pattern and old-world charm to the colorful hearts, and once again, cutting with scissors and painting make a craft kids love. The different materials are really what makes these so unique — you’ll never get the same look twice and it really makes for a fun project!

If you have kids that enjoy cutting with scissors, try this heart garland for Valentine’s Day.

It uses items you have on hand like scissors, tape, and string. Boy, did George enjoy cutting all those hearts! And Henry loved taping them onto the yarn while George napped.

It kept both kids occupied for a long while, and in the end, we had a lovely heart garland to hang in the window and enjoy all month long.

“I Love You” Cards for Kids

There is nothing more precious than helping your kids say, “I love you,” by making their own cards for friends and family.

To me, heartfelt, homemade cards are the hallmark of a great Valentine’s Day.

It can be an absolute blast helping your kids create special messages for friends at school. Everyone, teachers included, enjoys a special Valentine.

To make that easier for you, I’ve come up with over 30 Valentine’s Day card crafts kids think are cute to make and share with their friends.

These ideas include stand-alone cards as well as cards that accompany a little trinket or Valentine treat because who doesn’t love a little extra sweetness for Valentine’s Day?

I also included some card ideas that you may have to help your kids make, but they were just too cute to pass up. Plus, some of the fun of hands-on projects is the collaboration between parent and child.

Create Art to Make Valentine’s Crafts

One idea I’ve done a few times with my kids is a stamped heart Valentine’s Day pipe cleaner craft. You shape pipe cleaners into hearts (or whatever shape you like…this idea works for other holidays, too) and let your kids dip the hearts in paint and stamp them all over a sheet of plain white paper. When the paint dries, you can cut or fold it into a super cute card.

My stuffed heart Valentines are another cute paper Valentine’s craft of painted artwork made by kids and are perfect to give to friends at school. The first time we made these was for Henry’s class, and they were a huge hit. Easy peasy and make for some great valentines cards!

Once the Valentines day cards were painted, assembled, and ready to go, we stuffed them with some Valentine treats for Henry’s friends to enjoy. His pick was fruit snacks, but you could use individually wrapped chocolates, stickers, or anything you think your Valentines would enjoy.

So many fun Paper Valentine’s crafts to share with you! Enjoy.
